Bracknell Forest Council have been announced as one of the finalists in this year’s e-Government National Awards. The highly sought-after awards recognise excellence across eleven categories, highlighting the UK’s top public sector innovators in the use of technology, enabling businesses and citizens to better communicate with councils, central government, NHS and other public sector organisations.
SmartCitizen have been selected to assist the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham as they implement their innovative Streetbase Connect Youth Card scheme.
The card, being launched by Barking and Dagenham Council and NHS Barking and Dagenham, will give users access to health, leisure, youth and library services across the area and will also be used to access school meals.
"the specialists in local authority smartcard solutions"
SmartCitizen specialises in building and managing citizen smart card schemes for local government. Our mission is to support local authorities in moving to electronic service delivery, using smart cards to improve accessibility, take out cost and enhance the citizen experience.
Our team's track record is impressive. We are involved in some of the UK's most important multi-application smart card initiatives including the "Bolton Smart" scheme and the "e+" smartcard scheme in Bracknell.
SmartCitizen created the architecture and developed all the card applications for the Cornish Key Card, the UK's first true multi-application local authority scheme. We went on to build the card software and provide much of the know-how which went into the National Smart Card Project, and we are now responsible for providing support to all users implementing the SmartConnect Card Management System as well as managing the Project's master open source.
SmartCitizen offers local authorities and technology partners a complete service from initial feasibility studies and consultancy, through to card scheme creation and support, including management and hosting where required.
We also offer a suite of software packages designed to support the use of smartcards in libraries and leisure centres and can also provide real-time integration solutions for interested customers.
We have been providing local authorities with smartcard services since 2004.
