2014 round-up

29 Dec 2014

2014 has been a particularly special year for SmartCitizen as we celebrated our 10th year in business. Anniversary celebrations commenced in June as we made the most of Cornwall’s glorious summer weather with a BBQ and games afternoon on Perranporth beach. A more formal anniversary dinner was then held for staff and friends in September at the Alverton hotel in Truro. Both were very enjoyable events, even if they did demonstrate that some of our cricket and salsa dancing skills may require further staff training! Special anniversary merchandise was also produced to commemorate the occasion and a local charity donation will be made on behalf of the company early next year.

We welcomed 2 new faces into the SmartCitizen family in 2014, saying goodbye to Stew and Sam, and hello to Joanne and Chantelle. Both Joanne and Chantelle have settled in well to their roles as Customer Relationship Manager and Junior Developer respectively and are quickly learning the ins and outs of the smartcard world. 2014 also saw Simon step up to take helm of the company in his new appointment to Managing Director, with Owen moving onto his new role as Commercial Director.

Other highlights of the year included the roll out of a new Smart Connect app, Smart Input for Tablets, which has been of huge benefit to some of our customers who can now take tablets out into the field to record event participation without worrying about being tied to a fixed location. We were also delighted to be awarded G-Cloud accreditation and renewed ISO 27001 accreditation, as well as being appointed one of the suppliers for a new ESPO framework agreement.

The months ahead are already shaping up to be a busy and exciting time for SmartCitizen and we look forward to delivering further solutions and achieving another successful year for the company in 2015. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our customers and friends for their continued support and wish you a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.
